FAQ

What can i expect at my first appointment?

Therapy can be a rewarding experience but we also know it can be difficult to open up about yourself and the things you are struggling with. Our first appointment is usually a “getting to know you” session where we will ask general questions about why you’re seeking treatment. We seek to make it as comfortable of an experience as possible.

Please account for travel and parking time as we will not be able to extend sessions past the designated time frame. There is a parking lot with ample parking so no worries about having to pay a meter!

What are your fees?

Once the therapy process is initiated, the ongoing session fees below will apply unless otherwise decided.  All session fees are due at the start time of each appointment. Fee may vary between providers.
Most sessions will be 50 minutes long unless otherwise discussed with your individual therapist.
Fees per session are $140. A sliding scale is available if this rate is financially out of reach for you. You will need to speak with your individual provider about this option.

A credit card will be held on file for all clients to confirm and reserve appointments.  You will not be charged until the time of your session and you’re free to use another form of payment if preferred.

Accepted forms of payment include credit cards (Visa/MasterCard), cash or checks. Clients may also be able to utilize a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account to cover therapy expenses.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we are considered out-of-network providers. We are more than happy to provide our clients with an invoice which they can then submit to their insurance and be reimbursed up to 80% of the session cost.

Reimbursement will depend on each client’s specific policy. Responsibility to file for and obtain reimbursement will fall on the client. We can provide a handout with questions to ask your insurance provider should you wish to apply for reimbursement.

Can I do video or phone sessions?

We do offer teletherapy services via phone or video chat. Please note that there are certain limitations to teletherapy services. We recommend that certain issues that are more distressing or severe in nature be addressed with in person appointments. If you are not local to San Jose but are interested in teletherapy services with us, please reach out and we can discuss whether or not this would be appropriate for your treatment. We are able to provide teletherapy services to anyone who is a resident of California.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any cancellation made within the 24 hour window before your appointment will be considered a late cancellation and the client will be charged the full session fee. We understand that there are emergencies and unforeseen circumstances so please discuss these issues with your therapist if an issue like this may arise.

Do i get to pick my therapist?

Absolutely! If either of us seems like a better fit for you, please feel free to let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your request. If for some reason your preferred therapist is not available, we can place you on their waiting list or you can have the option of “trying out” services with the other therapist (if they are available).
